99luft2009

The 2009 version of 99 Luftballons.

99 Luftballons (or 99 Red Balloons) features the band playing on what appears to be the barren remains of Germany. Nena herself is not shown with them, but wandering alone through smoke and mounds of earth. Every so often balloons can be seen tied to the ground amongst barbed wire and planks of wood. In the re-shown video there are clips of Nena and her band playing live to an audience at night. A second version features Nena and her band performing the song in front of an audience. Two more videos were released, one in 2002 and another in 2009. The 2002 video features Nena walking along walkway near a beach. The 2009 video features CGI and green screen.

It was parodied in The Treble's "No Secrets (There For You)" video.
