Jermaine Dupri is an American record producer, songwriter and rapper who was a dancer for the hip hop group Whodini and made an appearance in their music video for "Freaks Come Out at Night".
In 1990, he produced female hip hop trio Silk Tymes Leather, and he formed Kris Kross after meeting the duo at a local mall in 1991. Durpi established his own record label called So So Def Recordings in 1993 and he signed female R&B group Xscape and Da Brat to his label. In 1996, Dupri contributed to Lil' Kim's Hard Core on "Not Tonight". In 1998, Jermaine Dupri was involved in the release of Destiny's Child's debut album.
Dupri also contributed on Mariah Carey's The Emancipation Of Mimi in 2005 with "We Belong Together". He has contributed to several of Usher's albums, including My Way, 8701 and Confessions.
